With immense joy and gratitude, we the JDV Women’s forum had the Girl child day celebration on 09th September 2018 from 10.30am to 4.00pm at CWS hall with the theme “Girls are born to ignite the world.” On this special day, we invited the girls from the neighbouring slums. We welcomed them by pinning the heart’s favour which held the theme and beautified them with the clips which made them to feel that they are special in this society and world at large. We started the programme by lighting the lamp and with a short prayer of thanksgiving. Sr. Paula, the coordinator of the women’s forum gave a welcome address and greeted the invitees. The chief guest Mrs. Radha Jerry Louis, the professor of Neville Wadia college addressed the girls that to be courageous and motivated them to take risks in life by giving them the life examples of women in the society. Girls enjoyed the time which was given for them to exhibit their talents on the stage. They actively participated in all the games conducted by the sisters and brothers and they were rewarded with prizes. During the lunch, girls enjoyed the sumptuous meal with lots of joy and laughter. In the afternoon, they enjoyed and were motivated by the movie “The Secret Superstar” which describes well about a particular girl child who wants to achieve her goal amidst her troubles in life. After the movie, we conducted the games in group wise and the girls enjoyed well. Fr. Stephen Jayard, the animator of women’s forum gave an inspiring message that they are gifted and precious in the society to ignite the world. At the close of the programme, we distributed the gift bags which gave them joy and appreciated us with gratitude.
