PartnershipTreaty with the Leopold-Franzens University, Austria
On 14thOctober 1997 Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth, Pune and the Katholisch-Theologische Fakultaet of the Leopold-Franzens University, Innsbruck in Austria signed a Partnership Treaty to promote scholarly cooperation between the two institutions, faculty members and students. The Partnership Treaty includescooperation and collaboration between the two institutions in the following areas:
In accordance with this Treaty, some students of Innsbruck have already studied in JDV. The students from JDV have also gone to Innsbruck to do their doctoral studies. The fees of students who come under this exchange programme are waived off. The Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck provides also scholarship to students who are recommended by JDV on exchange programme. There is also regular mutual exchange of faculty members from both the Institutes.
One of the significant activities taken up by both the Institutes is jointly organizing inter-institutional and international conferences on relevant themes from a multi-disciplinary approach. The papers presented at the first four conferences were already published as books and the papers of the fifth conference will be published by September 2012. The following are the themes of the first five conferences:
The First Conference was held at JDV, Pune from 7th to 16thSeptember 2000 on “Human Longing and Fulfilment”.
The Second Conference was held at Innsbruck, Austria from 29thMay to 02 June 2002 on “Religion, Society and Economics”.
The Third Conference was held at JDV, Pune from 24th to27th September 2004 on “Religion, Violence,Communication and World-Order”.
The Fourth Conference was held at Innsbruck, Austria from 16thto 20th May 2007 on “Cross-cultural Encounter:Experience and Expression of the Divine”.
The Fifth Conference was held at JDV, Pune from 28th to31st August 2009 on “Quest for Human and Cosmic Fullness: A Multidisciplinary Enquiry”.
Thanks to Dr. Josef Quitterer and Dr.Kuruvilla Pandikattu, who were the first liaison persons and to their successors Dr. Mohan Doss and Dr. George Kurvelil. The present liaison persons on both sides are Prof. Andreas Vonach and Dr. Teresa Peter from Innsbruck and Dr. Jose Thayil and Dr. George Kurvelil from Pune.
