July 06 was a joyful day for the JDV Women’s Forum as we the forty women Student Religious gathered in CWS for “The Inaugural and Orientation Programme”.It was a time of togetherness, knowing one another and growing in communion. The theme of the day was “Empowering Women for Service”. We had a meaningful Eucharistic Celebration officiated by Fr. Selva Rathinam, SJ, the President of JDV and Fr. Jose Thayil, SJ, the Registrar was the Con-Celebrant. Fr. Selva Rathinam enlightened and motivated us to remain united with one another and look at the realities from God’s perspectives, others perspectives and also from our own perspectives as a woman.
We began the orientation programme, at 11.00 am. Our resource person, Sr. Julie George, SSpS, gave us the orientation talk. She challenged us by her thought provoking reflection that being in solidarity with the poor is not an option but an obligation, for our Institutions is for people. She motivated us to be prophetic leaders and to update ourselves by reading the signs of the times and responding relevantly to it. She highlighted the importance of our personal relationship with God than being ritualistic.
Sr. Fabian, the Animator of Women’s Forum inspired us by her short message which focused on the importance of three ‘C’s namely Communion, Collaboration and Contribution. “It was a moment of revival for us to be empowered and empower others in and through our service”. We proceeded with thanking the old core group members of the Women’s Forum with flowers that coupled with displaying the highlights of the last year 2018-19.
